On October 15, 2019, Mr. Hassan Soroosh, Ambassador-designate of Afghanistan to Canada had a courtesy call with Mr. David Hartman, Director General of the South Asia Bureau at the Global Affairs Canada. The two sides discussed various aspects and areas of bilateral cooperation including education, health, security sector support and women’s empowerment. They also discussed the ongoing efforts under the Afghanistan National Peace and Development Framework (ANPDF) and the associated National Priority Programs (NPPs) as well as future priorities in the context of bilateral cooperation. Ambassador-designate Soroosh expressed his gratitude for Canada’s continued and active engagement as one of the largest donors to Afghanistan.
Ms. Diane Harper, Executive Director; Ms. Kelly Whitty, Deputy Director; and Mr. Elyas Irfani, Senior Policy Advisor from the South Asia Bureau as well as Mr. Fahim Ebrat, Charge d’affaires; Mr. Mujtaba Ahmadi, Deputy Chief of Mission; and Mr. Azim Wardak, Counselor from the Embassy of Afghanistan were also present in the meeting.
